Chronic Fatigue and Aromatherapy

Do you have chronic fatigue?

Aromatherapy is considered to be one of the most consistently successful therapies for treating chronic fatigue syndrome.

Other holistic treatments to consider are nutrition, vitamins and herbs recommended by a qualified Naturopath, and daily excercise for example walking.

Here are some oils that I have used to help reduce some symptoms of chronic fatigue

These can be used safely with a variety of applications which I will give a bit later on. If you are unsure seek the advice of a practising Aromatherapist and research the essential oils and their contra-indications.

To reduce stress – Lemon, sweet orange, geranium, neroli, jasmine, mandarin, bergamot, ylang ylang, I recommend any aroma that you like as it will uplift your emotions and aid in de-stressing.

Muscular aches and pains – Rosemary, peppermint, clary sage, german chamomile, lavender, cypress, juniper, basil, marjoram.

To help to increase your energy levels – Grapefruit, juniper, cypress, peppermint, rosemary, basil.

Depression – I always recommend that you inhale your preferred aromas, it is also important not to over use essential oils that are strong sedatives like sweet Marjoram, clary sage, sandalwood, valerian and vetiver.

Most essential oils are very good for depression and boosting the immune System here are some - All citrus, geranium, neroli, rose, chamomile, patchouli, frankincense, ylang ylang, basil, peppermint, lemon myrtle.

Insomnia can be a cause of chronic fatigue, oils that can aid in relaxation and sleep – Vetiver, sandalwood, clary sage, lavender, lemon, bergamot, rose, neroli, jasmine, rhu khus, cedarwood, chamomile.

Blends

Raising energy levels – grapefruit, basil, peppermint or rosemary, juniper, spearmint, use as an inhalation.

Immuno-stimulent – rosemary, peppermint, cypress, lemon myrtle or lemon, juniper, lavender, lemon tea tree, daily application as a dressing oil or friction rub (once a week)on your back focusing on the sinal cord.

Insomnia – vetiver, rosewood, sweet orange or rose, geranium, lemon via inhalation, full body or foot bath, diffuser or annoint the souls of your feet.

Muscle pain – clary sage, basil, peppermint or rosemsry, sweet marjorum, lavender topical application.

These oils are recommendations, that I have personally used for working with the above conditions.

Gardening

I have just spent a couple of hours in my garden, the temperature was just right. The soil is still nice and damp from the rain we have had and the veges especially the wild rocket, warrigal greens and tomatoes are growing like mad. In fact the greens had taken over nearly the whole of one garden. The chooks will love it as I have cut them back and there is now a lovely mound of fresh greens for them to pig out on, or so I thought! I have let them out and they have turned their noses, beaks what ever up and standing at the door as if to say is that all you can offer.Mmm they have acres to free range and they hang out by the back door. Every time I get up to have a cuppa and go to the fridge to get the milk they come running, stand there and cluck. Often have to chase the wee bugga's out as they seem to think this is their house. Pulled some baby parsnips out and will have them tonight.

Summer Storm

Well that was a great storm, and the rain is keeping the garden happy!
Today I was almost spritzed out because it was so hot and know it is beautiful and cool.
When you get to hot this Summer, keep spraying yourself with cooled floral water or tap water if that's all you have available, it will help to keep you cool and refreshed.
